Chris Jelden and Amanda Sandberg
(Show Goers, music lovers
and all-around awesome couple)
WC: Hi. Welcome to
The Whalies! Excited to be here?
AS: Very excited!
CJ: This is our
first time to the Whalies.
WC: What are you
looking forward to the most tonight?
CJ: Looking
forward to Pocket Vinyl.
AS: I’ll go with
the whole experience.
WC: That’s a good
answer.
CJ: Yeah, that’s
a good one too.

Marko Fontaine
(90.9FM WCNI DJ – The Punk Rock Jukebox, show goer)
WC: So, what
performance are you looking forward to the most tonight?
MF: Suicide Dolls.
Yeah, Suicide Dolls and Erik Lamb.

Matt Barnes
(Fall From Below)
WC: So you played a
show last night, how was that?
MB: Amazing,
amazing! The Gee actually has a phenomenal sound. It was so crisp it was nice
to know.
I actually had people come up to me and say they understood what I was
saying.
It was awesome and I was very impressed.

Eric Stevenson and Elizabeth Jancewicz
(Pocket Vinyl)
WC: How are you two
feeling about tonight?
PV: Excited, a little
nervous.
ES: I am sick a
little bit and so, we’re opening the show but I have some Jack (Daniels) in my
pocket…
(Shows a flask)
I’m actually feeling ok now and I think it’ll be good.
WC: How do you feel
about the 8-minute painting you have to do?
EJ: I am very
nervous about that. That is the shortest I have ever gone.
I brought the canvas
so we’ll see… we’ll see
WC: How do you love
this New London energy of your new home?
PV: It’s amazing,
yeah definitely.
ES: I have no idea
where we’ll be in a year but it’s kind of safe to say
no matter where we go
we’ll point back and say this is our home musically.
EJ: This is our
hometown now.

Kat Burns
(2012 Whalie Awards video producer/graphic
designer)
WC: How much work
have you put into making these Whalies amazing?
KB: The last two
weeks have been dedicated to nothing but The Whalies. I spent several days with
Sean (Murray) pulling audio and visuals for the nominee videos and I pretty
much did not sleep in order to get a month worth of work done in a week. It was
an insane challenge but I tried my best to get it done.
WC: Are you excited
about tonight?
KB: Very excited
about tonight! Probably most excited about the intro.
We’ve got surprises and
excitement and yeah, it’s going to be good but I can’t give any secrets away.
You’ll find out.

Jason Banta and Ben LaRose
(Recur Occurrence)
WC: First, where is
Corina Malbaurn?
RO: She’s off doing
something exotic but she’ll be here later.
WC: Ok, so what are
you two looking forward to tonight?
BL: I’m looking
forward to seeing the performances.
WC: Anyone in
particular?
BL: Suicide Dolls.
JB: And I’m
looking forward to seeing everyone dressed up and getting really excited about
the music scene that everyone is in. For whatever it does to your career, this
is a whole lot of fun and it’s fun to be a part of something and then to be
recognized you’re a part of it.
WC: So tell me,
Jay, who are you wearing?
JB: I am wearing
vintage Career Club today and the first suit my father bought when he got out
of college.
I lost the jacket though.
WC: The jacket would have been too much.

Brian Lee Skidmore
(The Weird Beards)
WC: Brian, what are
you looking forward to tonight?
BLS: I’m looking
forward to performing actually. I’ve been building this up for the past 3 days.
You know, kind of do something a little different, unusual.
WB: I think the Weird Beards
themselves are a little different and unusual.
BLS: Ha, I think
they’re pretty normal to me.

Blair Smith and Joey Hilbert
(Herff Jones)
WC: Blair, Joey is this
your first Whalies?
BS: We came last
year but this is the first one where we’re nominated.
WC: Are you
excited?
BS: Yeah, totally.
JH: Last year I
came with The FaceLifters and they won and it was a lot of fun.
WC: What are you
looking forward to the most tonight?
BS: I guess
performing. I’m kind of anxious about it. We’re playing a new song that most
people haven’t heard.

Amy Jones and Eric Murray
(Dashing couple, music lovers,
Whalie performance extras)
WC: What are you
looking forward to tonight?
AJ: Entertainment,
fashion, drama.
EM: I’m looking
forward to a big Weird Beard surprise during their performance.
WC: So, Amy, you
were a butterfly for the Weird Beards?
AJ: I was for
their Creampuff music video. There were a couple butterflies and it was a great
time.
We just danced on the beach and it was wonderful.

Sue Menhart
(Sue Menhart Band)
WC: Sue, what are
you looking forward to tonight?
SM: Losing 5
awards.
WC: That’s not
going to happen, is there a second thing you are looking forward to?
SM: Sitting on the
stonewall that is going to be really wet because it was raining.

N.M.E. the Illest
WC: What are you
looking forward to tonight?
NME: The new
technology of the Whalies. I heard it was streamlined and awesome.
I’m looking
forward to seeing Erik (Lamb) and Skobie performing and rocking it. The Fly1s.
WC: How are you
going to feel when you win later?
NME: If I win later
it’s going to be awesome but if I don’t win its all my friends that are
nominated too so it’s like no matter who wins we all win. Its kind of cliché
but you know?
WC: What are your
plans after The Whalies?
NME: After party is
wherever the road takes us. Wherever the most people are at if I win to show
off the Whalie.
If not, I have new shoes on so I want to go anywhere so everyone
can see them.
I’ll walk up and down Bank St. all night.

Michelle Suicide, Brian Suicide, Matt Covey
(The Suicide
Dolls)
WC: Tell me, what
are you looking forward to the most tonight?
MS: No rain and the
fabulous of it all. Seeing all our NL music and arts family come together under
one un-roof.
BS: I’m going to
keep on, keeping on, keep on, keeping on.
MC: Honestly, I’m
mostly looking forward to seeing ISL play. I heard them rehearsing, we share a
practice space, and I was pumped immediately.
WC: Do you look
forward to getting up there yourself (with the Suicide Dolls)?
M.C: Yeah, sure
sure. I try not to think about it and just, you know…

Erik Lamb
WC: What are you
looking forward to tonight?
EL: Definitely,
performing.
WC: It’s going to
be very exciting.
EL: I love it.
