Camacho
Nominated for "Best HipHop/R&B"

Interview by Corrine Jensen

1. How would you describe your sound/the music you’re making in 10 words or less?
An experimental fusion of pure style and flow, something new

2. Of all my songs, the one that...
A. people tell me they like the most is:
People tell you they like the most is, I got this track called "Empire" that me an Semaj Foreman put together that EVERYONE loves. It got me linked up with "RedBull SoundStage" and booked for various shows throughout the east coast, kinda tells everyone why I do what I do and who I do it for. (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/empire-produced-by.-semaj/id435559294)

3. What/who/where inspires you musically?
I literally get inspired by EVERYTHING. Arguments, beautiful scenery, crazy stories from the homies, positive people, movies, and my life itself. etc. etc. etc.

4. What song or artist is your guilty pleasure?
I really respect Mike Posner and his certain style, even though I wouldn't exactly say he was my guilty pleasure lol... I rarely listen to other artists because it throws off my creative vibe and may influence me into making something unoriginal.

5. If you could collaborate with any New London County musician/singer/group/artist who would it be?
From New London? I really dig Poe Swayzie lol, he got swag factor! I really wanna get some tracks in with Sexual Healing and get Daphne Lee on a hook or two. If Bad Manners ever wanted to get down I would be stoked, make some real different out of this world type ish! I'm really open to anything though, long as its quality

6. What do you do when you’re not making music?
When I'm not making music I’m doing business... Don't sleep on my business game guys, I move in silence and make big moves! Always giving the team new opportunities and working on projects out of state. And if I’m not grinding which is 90% of the time I’m plotting with the fam and playing FIFA with Poe lol

7. What do you think has been your biggest success in the last year?
Well, it’s hard to say because I try to keep my options open and hands on everything... but.... I would have to go with our "SheetMusic" mix tape release party at the Oasis. "A Very Camacho Christmas" went down in style and we still to this day get love and gain new fans off the project. It was an amazing mix tape for the ladies that deserve to be in EVERY iPod in the world!

8. How did you feel the moment you found out you were up for a Whalie?
I felt great, coming back from a "Breakthrough Artist Of The Year" last year to being nominated in so many categories this year... It's an amazing feeling, and it's all I ever wanted. My hometown to recognize me as an artist.

9. If you could walk down the ‘red’ carpet with anyone/thing, who/what would it be?
Don’t really want anything spectacular, just strolling with the fam is enough for me. I mean you can throw in Tori Black, Isis Taylor, Kayden Kross, Asa Akira and Lisa Ann for escorting services but other than that... I’m good.

10. How are you going to celebrate post-Whalies
With THEFLY1S, probably tearing down a local venue or buggin out at the studio... definitely gonna be partying hard after bringing home so many Whalies lol!
